This pick is manufactured from 0.018 thick Government Steel and then molded into a purple toned plastic handle. This is our second thinnest series of picks. While they are somewhat thicker than the 0.015 picks, they are designed with the "Euro" shank reduction to enhance egress into restrictive key ways. They are designed to be useful for locks having narrow key ways and to provide some more strength than the 0.015 picks.
Please note that these picks are specially designed to provide you access in narrow key ways where standard picks will not fit. This reduction in width comes at a logical cost in rigidity. Using these picks in wider key ways means you will lose the side to side lateral support for your pick that a narrow key way provides. If you are heavy handed you may find that these picks will try to flex sideways, or even bend under high pressure in locks with wide key ways.

This is the pick I use 70% of the time. At first I didn't like it, but once I got used to the design I was so much better at remembering where I was in a lock. Peterson's design is innovative and strong. I have tried many "competitors" picks and they can't really compete. Peterson picks have the only handle that makes any sense. I don't know how other companies could ever respect themselves selling picks with either no handle or just some weird dipped rubber. The handles alone are enough of a reason to go with Peterson.
Peterson picks in .018" are some of the best on the market. I pick a wide variety of American and Euro locks and the Peterson Gem, 1, 7, are my goto. These picks fit in the tightest of keyways, yet are strong enough to get past the most stubborn spool pins. With these 3 picks I can get in almost every lock. I love how Peterson is differentiating itself from the market and innovating with the perfect pick thickness.
The Peterson handles are just a bonus and really help you have a firm grasp on your pick. I can't count the number of time a competitors handleless pick has slipped while deep in the lock causing me to bend my thinner picks. The Peterson handle gives me the tight and precise feedback that no other pick does. And I know. I have tried all the brands from all the different countries around the world.
