Our robust Gov Steel Hook 1 Pick offered in a Plastic Handle. Our top selling GS Plastic Handle (Government Steel Plastic) Series Picks, are made to our "EURO" design approach that incorporates a reduced "shank" height for easier pick access into key ways that were designed to be restrictive. The hard fiber filled handles readily transmit every vibration from your picking, and the pick's light weight makes them extremely agile and responsive. Our Government steel is a legend in itself: Our proprietary steel is high tensile, but at the same time it is ductile instead of brittle. The textured handles insure your grip is secure. Many people however favor our Rubber handle picks when available in the profile they desire (also in Euro design). These customers may work in colder or hotter environments and they enjoy the insulating characteristics of the rubber handles. Others in this group may have arthritis, or just enjoy the comfort that rubber provides. I myself also enjoy rubber handles, and as I tend to place my fore finger on the metal shank while picking I can also feel the vibrations from the lock.

This is the first think I pull out when I have to pick a lock on the job (as a locksmith). It works 90% of the time, and when it doesn't, I pull out either a thinner, or longer profile, and that does the trick.
I used to prefer longer profiles as much as possible in the past, but ever since I started using this hook, all that has been thrown out the window.
This one is a MUST HAVE in my opinion.
The Petersen Hook 1 in GSP is my absolute go-to pick that can open just about any lock it fits into. The handles on Petersen picks are the best in the industry in my opinion. My lock picking skills really improved when I started practicing with only this pick with a variety of different locks. You will want this same hook in .018 for locks with narrower keyways.
This pick is truly amazing. I've been learning to pick locks with a cheaper set and wish I had started here. The feedback with this pick is so superior that I've cut my pick times in half. Absolutely worth every penny!
First pick I ever purchased from Peterson, about 3 years ago and still have the same one now. I was in mourning for about a month when I lost it, but a lucky glance in my yard (middle of December in NC, lots of rain) and found NOTHING wrong with it! Muddy yes, but the steel did not rust, nor distort in any way. Simply amazing
